Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. BBC News reporting that Sir Rex Hunt who was Governor of the Falkland Islands at the time of the Argentine invasion in 1982 has died.

No links available at this time.
  2. One of the Good Guys in the Diplomatic Service IMHO...

Thank you for all you did for the Falklands and the reputation of Britain..

We could do with a few more of your type around now!

    RIP Sir Rex

had me confused for a minute as I was thinking about the my fair lady guy.

RIP to a proper statesman, his description of hiding under the dining room table is excellent.
  6. Ditto. Enjoyed his company on a number of flights around the FI in 85. The Islanders thought the world of both he and his missus.

  10. At least he lived longer than Ian Richardson, the fellow who played him in the movie "An Ungentlemanly Act" R.I.P. Sir Rex - you had the guts to stand up for the right.
  11. Talking of which. I can't find it anywhere on DVD (not for a reasonable price anyway) Anyone know if it's available to watch online? I feel it's time to give it another whirl.

Sad news about Sir Rex, the world is running out of proper gents sadly.
