Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I have become somewhat sentimental about the past as of late, looking at films ,pics of Singapore in the 60s and early 70s. I was a child at RAF Changi many years ago, and now at last, me and the other half are planning a visit later this year. I am interested in the buildings of that era, and aim to click away with the camera (subject to local laws of course)

I have never been able to find a list of facilities we had in those days, can anyone add to the list?

    Known to me:

    RAF: Changi, Tengah, Seletar

    RN: Sembawang, Naval base

Army: Nee Soon, Selerang Barracks (possibly Aussie??)

    Any help appreciated!

I was serving at Tengah 67-70, and I'm browsing my "Short History of RAF Tengah 1939-1967" for reminders, but let's start with the following ...

RAF Bukit Gombak - Air Defence Radar

Singapore Radar - Military Area Radar, collocated with the civilians at Singapore Centre, Paya Lebar Airport.

    Army Aviation at Sembawang?

    BMH Alexandra.

I'll do some reading, and get back to you later.
BTW ... looking at it on Google Earth there's been a lot re-built over the years ....

    Add ...

    RAF Jurong - Signals Unit [I'd guess long-distance H/F]
