I've worked for the same employer for 25 years, where the sick pay routine is 6 months full pay then 6 months half pay.
18 months ago I decided to reduce my hours and work part time - 50%.
I sustained a sports injury and was signed off by the consultant following surgery 3 months ago and I'm now on rehab / physio, and not allowed to return to work until declared fully fit.
Although I have missed 5 weeks work in total so far, I've apparently been listed as absent for the full 3 months and counting.
Not a big deal, until taking into consideration the fact that any complications and setback on my recovery could see my income further reduced and at worst stopped altogether.
Any illness or injury pay in the future would be subject to the time off I'm taking now i.e a reduction in sick pay benefits.
I wouldn't mind so much if I was being paid for the entire time I'm off, but I'm only paid for the working days I miss.
Have I been given a bum steer, or am I just being a minge?
