If it is new remove the plastic inner.
Fill your sink with hot water.
Get a bucket of cold water.
Immerse your beret in the hot water and wring it dish cloth style
Immerse it in the cold water and repeat as with the hot
Do this 3 or 4 times and for your own comfort finish with the hot.
Place steaming beret on your head and model the shape to your
Current trend I think it was French Para when I was a cassette.
Once you have the shape wear the beret for a bit till it starts to dry
Then take it off carefully and put it somewhere warm and safe like an airing cupboard where it will dry in shape.
If you have a leather banded beret then use a bit of neutral polish on it when it is dry to feed the leather. Never use black
This will give you a shrunken and shaped beret as worn by all the older cooler kids :D

Stick beret on head.

Immerse head in boiling water.

Keep head there for 20 minutes.

Make way to nearest burns unit.

Give your beret to me I shrunk my old mans and now it fits action man ..I really think his head had grown just wanted to blame me....
What happened was...washed it in hot soapy water, rinsed in hot and then put on a hot radiator !! Worked a treat ...

If it's an issue beret then you may as well give up now.

Better off buying one from Du-Boreoff.

What's wrong with the shape when it's issued?

i was wondering what is this all about and how do you do it, as my beret has far too much material on it.
Is that young Para (by now about 45) who shrank Prince Charles' HUUGE maroon hat, back in the 80s, signed up to this site?

Did a f*cking good job - find the right photo archive and do a 'Before' and 'After' look at ole Big Ears in his Para fancy dress - maybe a commercial opportunity for someone of his obvious savoir faire . . .
