Should I Buy This Watch...

#1
I need a new watch, but should I buy this one ?

""Featuring highly accurate kinetic movement, this watch from Pulsar transforms the transforms the movement of your wrist into electricity, storing it to power the watch – you’ll never need a watch battery again.""

A special for Guardian Readers Wrist Watch

The problem is I always wear my watch on my right wrist and I do not want the battery to become overcharged and explode, thus blowing my hand off.

But could I use the same system to power my i-Pod ?

There's nothing worse than these Rolex/Cartier/Muller "Bling" cretins

Breitling/Omega Seamaster is the sign of a real man.

I've got a daytona, by default, I hate it...... I like a cartier on a chick, not a blingy one, a santos or similar, understated and classy.

Had a sea master for years, not worn it since bond slaughtered it

I've wanted a Breitling for years, bought myself a Colt, it's as near to idolatry as I dare (tho' I wouldn't mind an M3 ;))

Fair point about the Santos on a classy bird,

Daytona, please bin it unless you are a chav footballer.

The Seamaster is the best watch for the money. Nothing comes close.
I've had mine for 7 years now and they still sell them and the price still goes up.

Is this a bit of a silly conversation?

No I'm a watch geek....

The daytona gets worse, mother of pearl with gay diamonds :D

Promise mine by default :D ;D

Colts are the welfare variant of the Breitling

Back again after a good nights sleep.

Or rather, my wife came home and caught me ARRSEing with a pile of empty beer cans and the baby unbathed, awake and only half fed.

I am a 'recovering' watch geek.
At university in London I used to buy and sell second hand watches on Hatton Garden.
I used to barter watches until I had a really good one and then sell it on the Strand making sure the final version was not stolen and therefore traceable.

Coincidently, one of the main diamond dealers was an orthadox jew, who used to wear all the kit, and had one of my old mates from 1 para as close protection.

I like Breitlings, but the good ones look too big on my skinny arms.

Agreed, you'll struggle to find a nicer watch for 800 quid, just a shame Bond wore one, nothing cheesier than someone clocking your 'bond' watch.. and completely ignoring my Bat utility belt

I had a Breitling Aerospace for quite a while. Very nice, like most Breitlings, but electronic, and I prefer mechanical/automatic watches. I now have the watch I always wanted, a Panerai Luminor Marina. It's a thing of beauty.

I have several other watches, including an Oris TT Diver, a 1950 Longines dress watch and a Zeno Diver.

A good source for interesting watches (and straps, including genuine NATO), is TimeFactors. The owner is ex-RHA, and very helpful - does tax-free to BFPO, too.
