Yes... they are going to be between 2 and 4 months long. possibly 3.

This cant be gen.. how does a 2 month tour help a regular unit?? I was under the understanding that bsn hospital people did like 3 months but everyone else did 6.

If you are a Medic, it is possible. If you are in virtually any other role whatsoever, it is not. And the Medic roles - 3 monthers in the R3 in Bastion - also take a LOT of beat-up training first, and of course are utterly dependent on you knowing the job professionally beforehand. That's simply not possible for teeth arms (unless you are an artilleryman for Dr Evil's private army, or somesuch).

Maybe but the hospitality people do tours of indeterminate lengths. Most of us are still waiting for the nurses from Rinteln to turn up.

I've heard of these short tours, but not sure how they will work. They seem to rely on a high standard of 'readiness' for hte TA soldier that I don't think the TA can provide.

What, like caterers and waiters kind of thing?

The only teeth arm that does less than 6 months as a standard tour is the Army Air Corps AH Sqns.
Who do 4 months.

Stood by for incoming on the obvious.

Wrong (you need to take those AHcentric glasses off) ^~
How's it wrong if the other two do 6 months? Infantry and RAC.

Don't be jealous of my AH glasses, they're not G10 for men.

OP: Perhaps you should have stated whether or not you are aware of such tours that are within your trade or if you are just fishing for a generic short tour.

As others have stated there are certain roles that have less than 6 month rotations however they are all, to my knowledge, specialisms.

So in answer to your question: Yes thanks.
In answer to the implied question - Can you get a short tour?: **** knows.

If you are professionally qualified, such as a nurse, radiographer or ODP (the most important role in the coffee room), then it is 3 months baby cakes.

I found the beat up terribly hard, so hard in fact that my liver nearly fell out and I was declared bankrupt. And if you fail PFT/CFT then jolly well done for having the balls not to biff out in the first place.

If you are a CMT then you redo regular CMT 1 which is so incredibly intense it has been compared to the notorious cycling proficiency test.

Civvy paramedics are very often so honoured to have to do this course (the only one in the army in which the students are more qualified than the instructors) that they hand their kit in and leave as a sign of their heartfelt professional satisfaction and gratitude.

In the old days short tours came up regularly as stop gaps but I've not heard of that in a while. There used to be regular trawls for 6 weeks here 3 months there...

I've not seen one of those in a while, are they still there???

Because last time I looked AH wasn't the only rotary airframe operating in Theatre you stupid bowsermong ^~
The original question was for TA tours, and someone added teeth arms, I clarified the AAC AH force were the only of the Teeth arms to do less than 6 month standard.

Awaiting a bite from the teeth arm comment. However I will accept your bite at the AH comment.

Oh and yes AH is the only army rotary asset, apart from Lynx of course, but Lynx can't fight ;)
