Short term car insurance

We have some visitors coming over soon and we would like to let them use my wife’s car while they’re here. Trouble is her car is maxed out on “additional drivers” with myself and a couple of other family members already on the insurance.

The potential driver has a full UK driving licence but doesn’t currently own a car as she lives in a big city and doesn’t need one.

Would it be possible for her to get fully comp insurance for say two weeks of she calls a regular insurance company or would she have to go to a specialist?

Cheers, Beef.

Quite a few companies do it. My missus got it for three months when learning to drive. We went with Aviva

Have a look on the comparison sites, they(confused.com and moneysupermarket at least do) offer it.

It was easier to arrange than normal insurance.

Ive popped folk on for a road trip and the simply removed them afterwards, it reduced the rates back to what they were before. You could insure them for the car and cancel after their visit. Nothing wrong with more than one insurance policy on a car as long as its not for fraudulent gain!
