Series worth watching DVD

#1
In the last wee while I've watched all of Secret Army and all of Danger UXB.

Any recommendations for what to get next?

I think I mentioned 'The Edge of Darkness' BBC 1985 with you the other night.

Well worth it and good comparison can be made with the film of the same title transposed to Boston Mass and directed by the same bloke that did the original series. Even Mel Gibson was quite good in it God forgive me.

probably because he is supposed to die in it :)

plenty of stuff which aired in the states and could have been popular if they had exported it - I mean look at baywatch, the germans kept that going.

occasionally I type 'series' into torrent sites (no idea what they are - honest) and see what comes up. you might get Kung fu series 1 to 3 and then the reboot 'kung fu the legend continues' or decent enough series like john doe or odessey 5. found old series like combat but old brit stuff like the original redcap or that NI based one are harder to find.

plenty edge of darkness though.

The Wire series 1 to 5, best TV ever......IMO
Breaking Bad, good laughs, violence out of the blue and tips on disposing of bodies and that's just the first few episodes of series 1.

French series, "SPIRAL".

Just finished series 3 and I believe series 4 & 5 have been commissioned. Excellent stuff showing a very gritty side of Paris and police work.

Have you read the books it was based on? There's a few bits in the series that actually happend.
As said anything by HBO just finished watching Game of Thrones not into fantasy but that is outstanding! Boardwalk emprie is also well worth a watch both available on ISO hunt as well

I found "Band of Brothers" to be superb. I bought the VCD set (genuine) in China when I was living there and watched the whole thing through in just about one sitting. I was shellshocked by the end. Unfortunately, it was taken from my household effects by Chinese customs when I moved back to Thailand, and I haven't yet replaced it. They assume all DVDs etc to be pirated and so they just remove them. Probably looking for porn!

Slightly off topic, but can anyone remember the name of a series i saw in the early 80's (81-3 ish) which was about an Autralian Unit in WW1. If i remember one of the characters was a brit and used the expression, something like 'more deeds of daring do wot won the war..'

What he said above+
-Blue bloods
-Fringe (if your into x-files type stuff)
-Life ( I highly recommend this one, unfortunately it was canned after two series during the writers strike period but do not let that put you off, it's everyone's favourite stinking of fox piss gwar Damien Lewis in the lead role and well worth a view)
-Homeland
-Falling Skies
-Walking dead

I'll second Rome. IIRC it is on offer in tesco at the moment.

I've started watching it again. Gratuitous nudity, violence, political machinations and murder. What's not to like.

And James Purefoy is great as Mark Anthony.

Seconded. Problem is finding something half decent to watch afterwards. TV will never quite be the same again.

Odd but good. Like your tastes sir.
