Secret Mission (1942)

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just recorded this one and watched it last night.
It was made as a propaganda film but compared to 'One of our aircraft is missing' it's a comedy!
The 'spies' just wander around as though they were on a day trip and when the action actually comes - well, don't blink, you will miss it!

Wish I knew someone who saw it in 1942, I'd be interested to know what they thought of it then.
  2. It is entertaining though, I liked the Whitleys dropping airborne troops complete with the 'doughnut' helmets, and the early Dr Who style handgrenades.

Considering 'Went the day well?' and 'The life and death of Colonel Blimp' were made in the same period, well.

If you get a chance, 'A Canterbury tale' is well worth a look, very quirky piece.
