The dotted line my father's ashplant made
On Sandymount Strand
Is something else the tide won't wash away.

(The Spirit Level - 1996) He taught me literature at St.Columb's. A tremendous intellect and we are the poorer for his passing.

Death of a Naturalist is a beautiful poem, so vivid and descriptive....describing frogspawn as a slobber of clotted water!
