Seaforth sporran

    I don't know anything about sporrans, but.......

    It looks in very good conditon to be as old as stated. I would have expected some wear to the leather or age patina.

    Unissued leather items of that period do take on a certain colour.
     
  4. I agree with you about the leather. I think the sporran body is a replacement.

    I'm not positive but I think sporran backs of Officer's sporrans of that period would be red leather with a small pocket integrated.

    The seller admits there are reproductions of that style cantle as well.
    I'm still not convinced it is an Officer's sporran cantle
