SDSR starting to bite?

#1
Rumours are of one unit which has just announced their training will be more limited from Oct and this will be their last camp with their vehicles...

Yes. Spill.

#4
What type of vehicles will not be used?

Not a 49 Brigade unit with DROPS per chance?
Doesn't matter really does it....?

The point is that following Mr Fox's comments today, Mr Camerons slimey rhetoric at Sandhurst, and the early retirement of the senior MOD Civil Servant announced at the weekend, it doesn't take a rocket scientist (this could be a specialist role for the TA?) to work out that the bloodbath heading in our direction is of such proportions that they (the pointy headed regular hierarchy) can now start to take risk. After all, it will pale comapred to SDSR - won't it?

You'll see more of this over the next month or so - the whole system has slipped into a limbo hypnotic state of inactivity anyway pending the axe.

There's a well rehearsed process for delivering systemic change to an organisation to avoid chaos, poor understanding, reduced morale and lack of empathy.

It's a pity the MOD didn't read it

I have been reading these forums for several years. The overriding theme of most of them was to cut the size of the state and to stop people sucking at the teat of the taxpayer.
I find it very surprising that when the tories start to do so, there is outrage. Or are the participants of these forums only looking for other people to be thrown out of their jobs?

Not me, I'm metaphorically, stood in the door. More accurately I should have said, "At the ramp of the LCVP", but it didn't have quite the same punch.

Oi Postie, over 'ere with the brown envelope mate!

If you honestly believe that having a capable and credible reserve equals sucking at the teat of the taxpayer, then I think you might like to frequent some other forums...

Or apart from get bites, you haven't answered any questions.

Mr Tracey has answered it. And anyway it's a Rumour Service ;)

Well, considering that Land are already cutting everything before the review actually reports, no surprises - I know of one Bde which is doing 27 days max full stop so everybody is leaving and know of another unit which isn't even bothering to plan for anything after its annual camp. The TA higher formations are showing no direction and basically hiding with their heads between their legs until somebody else makes a decision, unfortunately that somebody else will have other priorities.

No, fairly confident this is the correct forum to be on. The amount of whining that goes on about bounty hunting, tour dodgers does not fill me with confidence that there are not savings to be made within our capable and credible reserve.

Heaven forbid that any whining would go on amongst our regular brethren...

never moan............................................................................

I wonder when they will cancel TA ISC :(

TA budget to be reduced........................and where's the shock horror news in this? Welcome to the club, everybody is going to have to take some pain following the shambles the last government created. It always amazes (actually it doesn't it jus pisses me off) me when individuals/groups say "oh no not us - cut them but not us"

Once again all rumour control , nobody has got the facts on SDSR and the cuts it will impose on our services , only good point the PM made was our boys and girls in the frontline will get the resoures they need , and if the Op allowance is increased for our frontline troops and taking money from our non deployable troops or cutting back on red tab appointments ,please carry on

If you honestly believe that then you should not be allowed out on your own. What the frontline needs is more troops, more helicopters etc etc. It ain't going to happen. We have already announced that the UK PLC has quit and is looking for a diplomatic route out, handing off Helmand to the Yanks as we go.

What Fox and Co are signalling is the end of the UK as a military "player" and an acceptance that at most we will be able to deploy a Bde in support of any future Ops. Whats the NSN for kiddies inflatable armbands ? Welcome to the world of the non-swimmer.

It's not SDSR, it's GCM that's being applied. For regional forces 27MTDs, national forces even less. There are certain caveats to that so that enablers (instructors to yea and me) get more days as well as those providing a contribution to either day-to-day running or Regular Army training (RAAT taskings).

If your bosses haven't explained GCM to you yet then rattle their cages.
