Then you are a bear with a very little brain. It’s a matter of numbers, suddenly they will have to produce over double the meals they do now. Then it’s geographic, those meals will have to be transported, hot and safe, all over the Authority. And finally there’s the matter of our wonderful Scottish weather, in snow or ice, when the children have successfully walked to their school, somehow the Authority will have to have sufficient effective transport to deliver all those meals AND when they get to the school it will need the correct equipment to keep that food warm and safe and trained staff to deliver it. After that somehow the food containers will have to be cleaned and returned to the Authority ready for the next day. At the moment my P2 Granddaughter toddles onto school with her packed lunch after having breakfast at home, with this proposed system if bad weather stops the transport or it breaks down then all the children will be sent home as the school will not be able to provide them a meal.
Why double the number?
As I said, they already cater for P1-3 on a free basis, a portion of P4-7 will already get free school meals due to parents income and the rest of P4-7 Have the option to buy.
If the weather is bad enough to stop transport then the schools are already closed.
Why is your grandaughter taking a packed lunch when as a P2 she will get lunch provided free at present?
