And black bun. Don't forget the black bun.

Whatever that is, I don't think that I have ever consumed that.

Fruit cake, inside a pie case.

There was much being made yesterday on radio Scotland of the fact that Hogmanay is more important to Scotland than New Year to the English.

Therefore the fact that PM wants to have a Christmas but shut down for New Year is bound to create an issue

What's it got to do with the PM? I thought it was Wee Nippy who was running everything up here?

So this approval rating she apparently has is even more of a sham then?

Because they are trying to get a 4 Nation approach to the Festive Season.

But difficult to do if different Nations have different priorities in that period

Have you seen the money made in Scotland at the various Hogmanay festivals?

It's the same commercialised boll0cks being punted everywhere.

The days of family gatherings, listening to Andy Stewart, shortbread, first footing and lump of coal are long gone, except in the fevered imagination of the terminally nostalgic.

Apart from Caravan sites and camper van rentals

However you have to bear in mind that they only had a very short season, and most caravan sites were restricted in things like tents due to communal shower/toilet blocks being off limits for when they did open again.

Quite a few up here just didn't reopen at all.

Nah still goes on in my area although the lump of coal has been super seeded by a silver coin which you put on top of your door frame and keep it there all year and spend it on or close to Hogmanay that year

Aye I know our site reopened to static caravans first week of July and tourers two weeks later
