Scottish Politics Thread

Of the five tiers One is virtual covid free but no vaccine and not much chance of reaching that at present. Five is close to the total lockdown in March, but not quite - also she said it was unlikely they would use that. This leaves 3 tiers which look awfully similar to those announced by Boris a few days ago.

No doubt some will think that St Nicola (pbuh) is going further than BJ but even a quick glance shows them to be virtually the same.

The duplicitous lying Scottish strumpet.

If Boris had gone with 4 or 5 Tiers, then the SNP would have gone with 3. If Boris had a vaccine called BritDefence she would have it renamed the SaltireSmitefcukingtories or the welsh Leekonengland.... How bleeding transparent does it have to be, that Devolved Governments are playing politics with covid and its as if the Media love this 'Disunited' narrative and you do wonder if any media has a patriotic bone in its body.

Even the private dentists are meant to stick to social distancing, specific decontamination, PPE etc.

But this is reflected in the cost.
Reflected in the cost and suspended service. No check ups. No hygienist appointments. Emergencies via NHS Covid or some such. I'm glad I got my dental work done before hand. Others will have been left in limbo.

A good explanation given by a local practice
"UPDATE FOR NHS PATIENTS We are making the full range of NHS treatments available for our patients from November as per the Government announcement. As the Chief Dental Officer had said this cannot be business as usual. When attending we will be wearing additional PPE, the front doors of the Health Centre will remain closed and the waiting room will not be in operation. There are a number of new protocols that will be explained when booking your appointment. We’re going to begin contacting patients with outstanding treatment and sending recalls for check ups. It’s important to realise that the NHS are only providing us with enough PPE for ten patients per day per dentist. This is less than half the amount of patients we would normally see, so appointments are going to be strictly prioritised. We will be booking a maximum of five NHS check ups per day per dentist so that we can also use the PPE for providing treatment such as fillings and emergencies. Unfortunately this is likely to mean a considerable wait time for routine NHS procedures for many people. Urgent treatment will still be available at short notice. We will be prioritising anyone who had outstanding treatment, and will begin offering routine check ups to those who were due for a check up in April. Following this we will offer to those due in May, etc. Your continued patience and understanding is appreciated."

The fate of all single issue parties like SNP; the issue is followed by zealots who want a 'purer' form of the issue. It has taken a while but the SNP are now feeling the pinch as Nicola's vice like grip on the Party slackens and she becomes vulnerable.

And talking of tears or tiers

Behind a paywall. Why are they 'former'?

Agreed about single issue parties. Why not focus on concerns closer to home rather than some arbitrary concept of 'FrEeEdOoOmM!!1one' Still, I'm sure there party will allow them to continue feathering their nests.

From the link;

"We have better options. Scotia Future believes in real independence. For example, it is unwise to seek to trade Scottish sovereignty away to the pro-austerity and centralised EU before we have even gained independence. "We favour a bespoke deal for Scotland with the EU similar to that of Switzerland, which is vital to safeguard Scotland's sovereignty on the economy and defence."

A similar eu deal to that of Switzerland?
Have they thought this through?

All these new groups, and indeed the SNP, are proving is there is no such thing as absolute independence

They were looking at the Ladybird book of European countries and Scotland was next to Switzerland

Just how big will defence be an independent Scotland? Hadrian's Wall is in England and are there that many Jock brickies available who aren't in Londonistan? ;)

My jaiket? How kind. Frank, get the door.
Scotland as an independent country would be lucky to find 1% of GDP for Defence and your talking forces exactly half the size of Norway.

Is that taking into account the current fiscal deficit of 9% of GDP.

You'll be lucky to be issued a cap gun, just don't hold out for any caps....

Didn’t you read the cult‘s white paper just before the once in a lifetime neverendum? They‘d already baggsy’d what they thought they were due from the rest of the UK. Strangely enough there wasn’t much mention of funding, just a bluffers take on Simon says we get ten Typhoons.

Yes; as presumably Scotland would still wish to belong to NATO..... So every Scottish Department and overall Government spending would take a minimum 10% (deficit+defence) cut on day one of Independence.

Then you have the 'haircut' where the market value of Scotland will be seriously diminished, as no longer belonging to the Union has costs, remember the remainers including the SNP never shut up about that as a downside of leaving Brussels. I would expect a structural recession, may well be staved off in year one, by say year five of independence, the rest of the UK will have moved on and Scotland frozen in time with minimal investment and losing market share in England.
