On the face of it it would seem that the aim is to get the ferries completed and in use. Reading the news the takeover would protect 300 jobs (50 have already gone due to contract labour), finish the ferries and as we have already spent so much, a little more won't make a lot of difference. The problem comes once the ferries are finished and in service. As one union official said, due to EU law getting new contracts could be difficult due to state aid laws.watching the news tonight , looks like the scottish government are about to take ownership of the Ferguson ship yard
Yahoo! going to be interesting watching it cost us millions , to save 350 jobs, and save face
Are they going to privatise Rosyth and Faslane to protect the 12000 odd jobs when we get our independence,
So in X number of months/years the SGov will have a shipyard which can't build ships due to the EU law which they need to sell at a knocked down price and a workforce getting good money to sit on their backsides and waiting for work that is unlikely to come.
