I had the pleasure of seeing the band perform recently. Outstanding, even the non-military minded missus liked it.
The usual war film marches were played, along with Holst's Mars:Bringer of War and the music from a 50's documentary titled Victory at Sea (which had a two-star narration!) The theme was the 60th anniversary of the end of WW2.
The highlight of the evening was a medley entitled "Songs that won the war." A few minutes into the piece, four of the bandsmen marched on in two pairs. One of each pair was wearing a set of OGs and helmet sans DPM cover in imitation of WW2 battledress. The other of each pair was in 40s drag and enjoying it too much! Marines - you can't take them anywere without them dressing in womens clothing!
An excellent show - what talent - and thoroughly enjoyable!!!!!
