A piece of legislation currently going through Scotland that has enormous negative implications for personal freedoms. Very much mirrors the Communist doctrine that the "state owns every citizen".

Now it's a social worker for every child - in Scotland - Telegraph
Never in the entire existence of the Soviet Union the state introduced anything resembling Western "social workers" system!

Only a person who never lived in the Soviet Union could come up with this: "Now it's a social worker for every child -- Emulates Soviets"!

This system is entirely of Western origin and is directed at the destruction of the family!

Next step is for the children to be "encouraged" to report to their social worker everything their parents say, everything their grandparents say and everything they hear their parents friends say. There will be no point reporting the school teachers, they will be card carrying, brain washed members of the party. If they aren't they won't be allowed to be school teachers.

You and I don't agree on much but on this we do.
This is far more European Union than Soviet Union.

" Here, too, children are actively encouraged, by the authorities and by popular culture, to monitor their parents’ environmental behaviour. Eco-Schools, a government-funded scheme active in 5,500 schools around the UK, calls on teachers to integrate environmentalism into the curriculum as a way of ‘empowering children’ to police their parents."

Exactly. In a soviet style system, the entire family would be deported to "count trees". Don't want to be breaking up families, unless of course you have a DDR Stasi type system.......no Russian influence of course......

Did you actually read the Children and Young People (Scotland) Bill before posting? It's clear Brooker didn't before writing about it. "Every child from birth will be given a “named person”, charged with keeping an eye on that child’s interests until it reaches adulthood" is a factual inaccuracy, or as they're known when done deliberately, a lie. The Bill proposes a statutory duty to make available a 'named person service' for those who wish it or where the child would be placed in loco parentis of Social Services under current arrangements. It does not make these arrangements mandatory or universal.

Destroy the family and divide and rule.

I assume you're still at the "tooth fairy" stage of development.
Nope, fully-grown with a firm grasp on reality, thanks. I don't subscribe to 'creeping sharia but for infidels' either.

There is nothing more permanent than temporary arrangements.

Same here: to make it mandatory from the start will bring too much protest; but to make it "for those who wish it", wait for the society to get accustomed to it, then make it mandatory is a much safer way to further alienation of children from their blood parents.

Just how do you manage to sleep at night with the weight of the world upon your shoulders? Drip, drip, drip is hardly a new concept in politics. It's been happening for years the European Soviet Socialist Republic is a glaring example.

There's mandatory by the force of law and effectively mandatory by top down governmental pressure. The state will "encourage" children to meet the person who's been "made available" to them. Those children whose parents fail to make the introduction will be "encouraged" to report their parents failure to their teacher. The failure to make the introduction will be classed as bad parenting, bad parenting meaning a forced introduction to the assigned social worker who will then take a close, permanent interest in the children of those parents. The Scottish government will be the sole arbiter of what constitutes bad parenting.
Salmond is a very dangerous little man.
