You are charitable. I doubt these children really existed.
I definitely saw a face amongst those rags in the photos, but only once.

basically the awarding of legal aid doesn't take into account the stitching into suicide vests and acting as the fashion police.
Serious matter - yes.
Can't afford a lawyer - yes.
Case has 'merit' - ? Apparently so.
Current citizen nationality - irrelevant. That will be decided.
Good person or not - irrelevant. That will be decided.
Her lawyers must be running their hands with glee. I'm pretty sure that two firms were asking for legal aid but only one was accepted. Apparently she's not even asking for the aid personally.
Shamima Begum is on legal aid despite being stripped of UK citizenship | Daily Mail Online
Personally, i think legal aid needs a little risk adding to it. Ie the lawyers get legal aid but should be required to shoulder some of the financial risk. Say 50% upfront and 50% on success? No win, no pay.
She will probably receive her citizenship back. And in due course be lavishly rewarded on her eventual return.
a couple of years down the road she'll be involved with inviting violence because surveillance was unaffordable.
A series of ISIL “markets” appeared online and on phone conversation applications such as Telegram and Signal, with names like “Caliphate’s Market”, “The Great Mall of the Islamic State”, “Souk Okaz” and “al-Muwahhideen market”. These markets allowed ISIL fighters to request to buy or sell anything from cars to weapons, as well as women and children.
"OK, but don't keep him too long - they blow up so quickly these days." *"Hey, Fatima, I'm about to be in a photo-op - can I borrow your nipper Achmat for an hour?"
Just been on LBC, the father of one of the RMPs killed in Iraq. He wants to know why his son had little ammunition and no sat phone etc.

He couldn't get legal aid.

Have you seen the latest gossip about her? She was apparently a member of some religious armed police unit in IS.
It's an eye witness report so it's not clear at all if true or not.
If the government knew about this then they would probably have mentioned it during the furore

Yes, if you scroll up you will see I posted the Telegraph article.
The Hisb was the religious police of DAESH, and it sounds like she cut around lecturing others on Islamic morality.
There's a comparible scandal breaking in Germany with a returned foreign bride, who might not be entirely "just the wife" she makes out.
Be careful browsing the comments, I see some people have uploaded beheading pictures. We tend to know DAESH were bestial, goreporn is uncalled for.
I think one of the most unpleasant things I remember is watch as UK Islamist talk about "why your wife should accept you are allowed sabi".
Sabi is the term they adopted for "slave companions". Or rape victims as a normal human being would call them. I linked a report about the whole sorry mess a couple of posts up.
Precisely this. You didn't make all that effort just to sit there humbly watching. The only people I'd believe were innocent and just humble wives/shop keeps are the poor f*ckers who were living quite peacefully until the isishit cretins turned up,including europeans.
If you've spent all that effort to move continent i doubt you're happy with a minor role. Probably a little more committed to the cause, and you've got to prove it.
Seeing as how the CPS only brings cases when there's a "realistic prospect of conviction" (ie a better than 50/50 chance of conviction) who's going to want to take on a legal aid case?Personally, i think legal aid needs a little risk adding to it.
