Saudi Journalist Disappears in Saudi Consulate in Turkey

A long time ago for myself as well but, knew more alcoholics in KSA than I ever did or do in the UK. Plenty available, as long as you didn't encroach on anyone's territory, stayed on the compound and played nice no problems.

I didn't quite socialise with the whole compound gang though so had a different perspective.
The expat community were a rum lot; highlights were Kareoki at the Rugby Club and shagging each others’ partners, whilst drinking indescribable home brew , it seemed.

Well, that makes life a lot easier for the Saudis .....

..... naughty Consul, naughty Consul ....

Doesn't say much for the Turks, though - just how long does it take to search a small garden?
It makes one wonder. How many other consular or embassy grounds are hiding things?
As you wrote yesterday, this is incredible if the work of the 'best' KSA Sy/Int chaps.

The Magic Kingdom is weird indeed. Cracking climbing, diving, mountain biking and other stuff if you're in the right place. But above all, it isn't real.

A scranbag of thoughts:

Dropping the oil price made the business case for more efficient fracking methods and those are not going to be uninvented.

First they said he was alive and then after two weeks that didn't work so they said he was dead so proving they were lying the first time. A bit like Putin whose book of Assassination for Dummies has now been found wanting.

Now we have a report that the evil murdering Crown Prince 'doesn't understand what all the fuss is about.'

all together now: .. In the Saudi consul's gaaarden!

It's a rather depressing eye-opener, but it's not just the KSA.

Look at the Skripal incident -- consecutive passport numbers, FFS!

... and the 'body double', who matched everything except height, build, gait, hair, age, beard, complexion and shoe size ...

... and I was serious about how long it took to search the Consul's garden, with or without GPR.

Edit: and, not wanting to speak ill of the dead but I've said it before, just WTF did Khashoggi think he was doing?

Maybe the got their idea from Peter Madsen, it does roughly fit the Danes idea on the best way to off a journalist.
1) Get journalist to visit your sub (consulate)
2) When questions arise about the missing person-state they left
3) Rape and chop them up (substitute interrogate for rape, then again rape still might have happened for pleasure on skype for the boys in Saud to watch)
4)Admit they died, but by accident
5) improvise from this point on in any way possible to save your skin........

Statement from ForMins of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the High Representative of the European Union condemning the killing of Khashoggi:
The G7 Foreign Ministers, of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the High Representative of the European Union, condemn in the strongest possible terms the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has confirmed took place in its consulate in Istanbul.

The truth is indeed stranger than fiction....

^ It's the "your life is entirely in my hands" handshake.

Nonsense?

There is software readily available (Windows or OSX...Media Inspector, Mediainfo, Gspot etc.) with the analytical capability to identify original bitrate versus a file where the bitrate has been altered. It's standard fare in the recording world.
Yes that well known piece of forensic software "Media Inspector" for seeing if a time series has been down sampled.

The following is a very good background explanation of Khashoggi's career, along with a timeline of events starting from the 25th of June (several months before most news reports start their explanation. In final months, Khashoggi repeatedly hit nerves as persistent critic of Saudi Arabia | CBC News

It provides a good explanation of who Khashoggi was and why he was such a thorn in the side for certain elements in the Saudi regime. It is worth reading to understand the motivations behind his murder.

Trump may reportedly be starting to come off the fence as far as condemning and blaming MbS is concerned, but 'sanctions', if you can call them that, appear likely to be limited to little more than restricting some personal US visas.

Mid term elections are all too clearly coming up, so he's neatly going to appease everyone.
