Saudi Journalist Disappears in Saudi Consulate in Turkey

2) What case do you mean? Btw, the MET police at time violated the Vienna convention. I have an example.
Seriously dude, look in the mirror

Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?
Matthew 7:3
Still, next time you're in London; let's chat about it over a nice cup of tea.

Or maybe not.

I feel sorry for whoever writes Sergei's official stance. They will have to change his story completely now.
I was wrong. During truthseeking process it is impossible to be right all the way. I'm ready to change my views. I suspected but it was a fake disappearance. It appears that my version was wrong.

True. It's under attack on the Web. From trolls but also from states, corporations, etc. The Internet and press has been key to holding KSA feet to the fire in this case.
It’s our strength and also our weakness, but there you go.

This latest ‘story’ frankly beggars belief. It’s like MbS said to the King, “this is what happened” and the King believes him and tells him to sort it out. If the Turks really do have ‘a tape’ .....

It is literally unbelievable. Both the Saudi version(s) of events, and that they expect people to accept their current version.
The Saudi King apparently spoke to Erdoğan before it was admitted that Kashoggi is dead. Whether that means that Turkey has agreed not to contradict the Saudi version of events remains to be seen. This incident is a great opportunity for Turkey to extract some concessions from KSA (trade, a softening of KSA measures against Qatar?).

Unless ‘a tape’ comes out which confirms that story. But then that would mean the previous releases were wrong ....

Definitely a bit of quid pro quo. Especially with Turkey’s position at the moment in Syria and on Qatar. The problem is, if they go along with it and ‘a tape’ with different events exists and gets released’ .....

This’ll carry on for a while yet.

It's not over yet. The next question is "so what did you do with the body?" If a body is produced, then the question of an autopsy by a credible neutral party arises. It's not over yet.

Twitter shut down a network of bots that were promoting pro-Saudi propaganda about the Khashoggi affair. Twitter pulls down bot network that pushed pro-Saudi talking points about disappeared journalist
Twitter suspended a network of suspected Twitter bots on Thursday that pushed pro-Saudi Arabia talking points about the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the past week.
Some of the bot accounts were pushing a hashtag that became the top worldwide Twitter trend on Sunday. It was in Arabic and translates to approximately "#We_all_trust_Mohammad_Bin_Salman"
Some of the bot accounts tweeted using a hashtag in Arabic that became the top worldwide Twitter trend on Sunday. The hashtag roughly translated to “#We_all_trust_Mohammad_Bin_Salman,” the Crown Prince and putative leader of Saudi Arabia, who has come under international scrutiny following the disappearance of Khashoggi, a columnist for The Washington Post.
The accounts pushed messages that asked users to cast doubt on reports that Khashoggi was killed in the consulate.
The bot accounts pushed messages over the weekend imploring users to express doubt about news stories reporting that Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi consulate in Turkey on Oct. 2 at the order of the Saudi government, as Turkish officials have alleged.

“From the very beginning, false statements have tried to link the disappearance or killing of #Jamal_Khashoggi to the kingdom,” one tweet from a since-suspended account read. “This is a campaign they are waging against the kingdom.”
The strategy was to push pro-Saudi messages into other topics to get them delivered as widely as possible.
Nimmo said the bots are part of a strategy to influence public perception by pushing automated, politically charged accounts into trending topics in an effort to get their messages delivered to the most people possible. The goal, Nimmo said, is to push pro-Saudi messages into Twitter’s trending topics, exposing new users to their talking points who would not otherwise them.

“They’re definitely bots, but they’re not targeting individuals,” Nimmo said. “This is a numbers game being played by bots and it’s about boosting messaging.”
Various hashtags were created to condemn "enemies" of Saudi Arabia and praise bin Salman. Rather interestingly, others made claims that Khashoggi's fiance was responsible for his disappearance.
One hashtag, roughly translated as “#unfollow_enemies_of_the_nation,” spread through more than 100,000 tweets over 24 hours from both real and automated accounts. Other hashtags were used to praise Saudi Arabia’s current king, Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, or to spread rumors implicating Khashoggi’s fiance in his disappearance.
They also propagandized against Al Jazeera.
One of the final tweets pushed by the botnet before its accounts was suspended specifically railed against Al Jazeera’s coverage of Khashoggi’s disappearance. Al-Jazeera is owned by the government of Qatar, which has been locked in a diplomatic crisis with Saudi Arabia since last year.
One of the interesting things is how long some of these bot accounts have been around. Some date back to 2014 and even 2011.
He called the influence operation a “standard” bot network, but was surprised at how old some of these accounts are.

“There were some that were from 2011, some from 2014,” he said. “For a bot to sit out there on Twitter for that long is kind of shocking.”

You must admit though that if Trump swallows the "fist fight" story this time you might want to try it out yourselves in future.

As I see you failed to recall even one case of violation of the Vienna convention about diplomatic relations by Russia. While at time mr.Blair, heads of both chambers of British parliament brought apologies to senior Russian MP who was frisked by the Police in presence of the FCO representative. Btw, sir Ian Blair didn't apologise.

As for the quote from the Bible them show the beam first.

Pres.Trump hinted what explanation he would swallow.
The confession dramatically changed the situation but unlikely the Saudis will tell the truth.
It looks as they planned abduction. Khashoggi probably was sedated by injection but due (for example) to heart failure died. It was decided (in Ryad of course) that the body should vanish.

So they are going for the throw the entire alledged 'kidnapping' team under the bus route for screwing up and killing him.
Yep!

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expresses deep regret at the painful developments that have taken place in this case and affirms the commitment of the authorities in the Kingdom to bring the facts to the attention of the public and to hold accountable all those involved.”

'Eighteen nationals have reportedly been arrested in connection with the suspected murder, and five of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s top aides — including intelligence official Ahmad al-Assiri and royal court media adviser Saud al-Qahtani — have been sacked.'

Saudi journalist murder: Prince Mohammed bin Salman yet to comment

Much as it pains me to agree with you this sounds probable, after all Islam is the religion of peace.

18 against 1? What a poof. If he'd had an ounce of Glaswegian blood in him we'd be looking for 18 dismembered bodies right now.

Erdogan is pretty canny, and as I mentioned earlier, has been remarkably restrained. Government media in Ankara reports he will not accept a Saudi whitewash and hope that this goes away. What he might do is extract huge financial concessions from KSA to bolster Turkey’s faltering economy. He could choose (for good opsec reasons) not to release tapes provided those arrested in Riyadh confess to a reasonably acceptable version of what happened- Erdogan might then accept the rogue element thesis. But Erdogan in a powerful position and wants to see MbS toppled, but I doubt (as do most observers) that he could do this without a strong US shove.

This case appears to be gaining resonance in America. Kushner’s previous proximity to MbS will prove to be even more embarrassing and Trump’s apparent acceptance of the “fist fight” story just reinforces how craven he is.

It is mainly cock up (and an ongoing one if the 'fist fight' story is the best excuse KSA can muster). It will now be very interesting when the audio or transcript thereof is released, and compared to the current KSA line.
It actually makes perfect sense, regardless of whether MbS was behind it and they're scapegoats, it's a set up, or they're 'genuine'.

That's their 'confession'. Obviously initially they'll 'confess' to the minimum unless proven otherwise, hence excusing it as a 'fist fight'.

If there's more evidence later, for example the 'tape', then they'll change their story (not the KSA's / MbS's) and 'confess' to more.

Either way, MbS and the KSA can be seen to have never changed their version, that they know nothing, and that it was all down to 'rogue elements' who they've caught and will put on trial.

He doesn't need to. He's already enabled a complete whitewash and the KSA version of events to be possible, even if not particularly credible, by doing nothing to forestall the killing even though their int in the Consulate should have meant they knew, letting the 15 man hit team go even though the alleged recording meant they already knew and could have arrested them all, and not searching the Consulate as soon as they had permission instead of a week later after the clean up.

That defence can be maintained. It comes at the price of not seeming credible (at all) but it can be maintained.
