Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

British ground forces in Iraq will be reduced from three brigades to one soon, it has been reported.
Senior commanders received the orders to pull back 3 Commando Brigade and 16 Air Assault Brigade in the last few days, unnamed military sources told Britain's Press Association.

That will leave only 7th Armoured Brigade on the ground in Iraq.

  2. Quelle Surprise!!  16 and 3 Bdes have got to get some leave in before there next ops.  We haven't got any other light role inf have we?  No didn't think so.

Could be because they have less kit to move, which leads on to the whole rapid deployment issue very neatly !!
  4. I think it because we need their capability back here in case of something else.

Once deployed, 16 AA and 3 Cdo have little utility out of role. They have done a super job. Now we need to get back, some leave and then ready for whatever the future may hold.
  5. HLS,

By the very nature of being Light Inf, Light Inf Bns have little kit to move (unless you mean back from the gulf of course)

    Didn't I just say that?
