Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Does the S type engagement still exist? Or is it just the FTRS now a days?

I think it has been FTRS for about a decade now...
  3. No I can confirm "S Type" still definately exist, one of my lads is on an S Type after changing his Terms and conditions of service from FTRS.
  4. How does an S type differ from FTRS, can you get promoted on S type as you can't on FTRS etc?

S type is when you, normally, re-enlist and are to old to complete a notice engagement. You can only serve a maximum of 12 years on a S type (but I believe this is changing) and you can get promoted.
