Russian Vietnam Veterans

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Russian Vietnam Veterans have been celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the U.S withdrawal from Vietnam today in Moscow, this unit who supplied training and expertise to the North gathered to remember their fallen comrades.

This was on Russian cable today, pretty interesting, well more interesting than what else was on!
  2. Theres a lot of posturing going on over there, anyone else think the russians are secretly spoiling for a rumble?
  3. Well seeing what they were saying about Kosovo on the news, the Russians seem a bit jumpy at the moment, though they are also concerned about the fact that Russian women wear the highest heels even in the depths of winter.
  4. Russia doesn't give a toss about Kosovo.

They do however have deep concerns that the apparent ease at which seperatist terrorists, with a track record of ethnic cleansing equal to the Serbs' have managed to steal a country for themselves. Russia and the CIS is not some homogeneous agglomeration: there are hundreds of little ethnic conflicts bubbling away; many are several centuries old, some date from the breakup of the USSR.

While Russia can use the Kosovo example to grab bits and pieces of Georgia, it stands to loose far more than it can gain.
  5. How many are we talking about here and what were the losses?
  6. Interestingly enough, no numbers were given, id say about 30+ high ranking attendees, which if it is like any other reunion only a small amount, it is though as far as im aware, the first time its been so publicly acknowledged. Though not a great secret to the Yanks. Been trying to see from the stuff on the walls, if it gives any indication of losses etc, but no luck.
