Have a look here: BrandsNovel use of the word “elite” to describe Smirnoff and Johnnie Walker. Wouldn’t use either to wash my dog! Still 300 possible recruits for the special military operation…
They have some of the best whiskies in the world, and if you wash your dog in Johnnie Walker Blue Label, then you've outed yourself as that fat bloke who won the UK's largest ever Euromillions and gave money to the SNP.
The exit of Diageo will very mildly inconvenience the 'rich' in Russia (they'll just fly everything in from China and Dubai - as many are already doing with sanctioned goods), but it may annoy the middle classes when their preferred tipple goes from US$30 to US$100 a bottle for Red Label. (they start getting drinkable at Green Label, and Blue is v.v. pleasant indeed). It also leads the way for other luxury booze makers to pull out of Russia without the fear that one of the largest global players was just waiting to steal their market share.
