Royal Scots Borderers (1SCOTS)

#1
There's a dearth of information on 1SCOTS (same applies to the other Bns of the Royal Regiment of Scotland). What's their new role? When will they be fully operational? Which is their 'parent' brigade?

Enquiring minds want to know!

They formed in August and are part of 52 Inf bde in Edinburgh. They are based at Dreghorn. "SCOTS up the road at Penecuik, 5 are part of 16AA based in Canterbury, 4 in warriors in Germany.

BD - below is an unofficial site on RRS with very obvious viewpoint.
The offial MOD site seems to be down at the moment.

In todays news 2RRS (RHF) were mentioned as maybe being sent to Afganhistan to reinforce the current commitment

Each of the Regiments who formed RRS have retained their websites so can be looked at undertheir old names! I think each has a link to the RRS site.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. So nothing new. Disappointed to discover there's no 'official' 1SCOTS website, come to that no current positive Royal Regiment of Scotland site giving accurate information (the MOD site has not yet acknowledged the existence of 1SCOTS!).

Sadly the KOSB and Royal Scots websites appear to have lost their vibrancy and the various association sites have totally dried up. Depressing really and bodes ill for recruiting.

Any serving members of the SCOTS, particularly 1SCOTS, out there to give some accurate input?
Incidentally where will the Black Watch, sorry.. 3SCOTS be stationed following their Ulster tour?

barbs without wishing to sound ungrateful the information posted is more than slightly out of date and, in some cases, notably the army website, woefully inaccurate.
I was hoping someone would post a SITREP or at least spur whoever is responsible into updating the army website (if only to stimulate recruiting).

3SCOTS permanently based in Catterick when there's a battalion of the Light Infantry in Edinburgh and an Irish regiment at Fort George? Wouldn't it have made sense to station the LI Bn in Catterick (which is in their recruiting area) and base the Black Watch closer to home?
