ROYAL PIONEER CORPS.

HI ALL I WAS IN THE ROYAL PIONEER CORPS FROM DECEMBER 1970 UNTIL NOVEMBER 1973. AFTER I PASSED OUT FROM THE RPC TRAINING DEPOT, SIMPSON BARRACKS, NORTHAMPTON IN MARCH 1971 I WAS POSTED TO 522 COY ( RPC ) CAD KINETON, LEAMINGTON SPA, WARWICKSHIRE. WORKING DOWN IN THE AMMO SHEDS THEN DOG SECTION FOR A FEW MONTHS BEFORE I WAS POSTED TO 8TH INF BDE, HQ & SIG SQN, EBRINGTON BARRACKS, LONDONDERRY, N/IRELAND, FROM JANUARY 1972, DOING VARIOUS GUARD & ESCORT DUTIES, THEN ROVER GROUP UNTIL I DEMOBED IN NOVEMBER 1973. If there are anymore pioneers on this site I would be very suprised. Most of them will have yet learnt what a COM-PUT-OR is!

Worked with chunkies at JHQ - fantastic bunch of lads (when we wernt scrapping with them) and i was sad for them when they got merged with the rest of the Really Large Corps.

I unreservedly apologise for this silly remark. I trust the Gentleman and his Lady enjoy their Reunion and are successful in finding accomodation. (Isn't there a travelodge by Tesco's Roundabout?) I was going to go myself but would feel too embarrassed.

Thank you for pointing out my grammar mistakes. I admit i was typing that at work and was slightly p****d off by his comments......i think they are uncalled for and to be honest the same goes with the first reply by pig in a poke....

I will never forget the time we blew up a lot of old ammo with the RPC down on Lydd beach IN THE 70's,they collected all the old brass and copper afterwards and weighed it in and had a fantastic p1ss up on the proceeds great lads,hope your reunion goes alright Sootyrpc
