Royal Irish or rifles

Hi everyone, looking for advice on which regiment to choose between the 2 above. I want a light infantry role which attracted me to 2 of these, I’m Irish living in England , which obviously attracts me to royal Irish. However I see that 1 royal Irish is becoming a light mechanised role and I’m not really sure what this means, would they still be considered light infantry or does their role change much?
