Royal Engineers PO Visit 17th-19th May?

#1
Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone on here is going to?

To those who have been to the RE visit before, what do you get up to on this visit? I've heard plastic explosive, swimming and boats, any information you can give will be great??

I haven't received the joining instructions yet only the forms to book my place on this visit so do not know what happens.

Thanks in advance

I undertook a RE visit, blimey, almost 2 years ago (a June visit).

When I was there the final evening coincided with the troop commanders course final week and as such we PO's were invited along.

A very good night and the sense of humour of the engineers definitely present.

Off the top of my head I don't remember swimming but I do remember the boats.
Have fun, it is a excellent visit and sells the regiment well.

I'm going in a couple of weeks, no mention of boats in the itinerary I have been sent.
When you going Rinaldi?

On the forms I received (on the consent form) I have to agree to accepting the risks of undertaking the following risks:

-Physical Training
-Assault Boats
-Using plastic explosives
-Swimming
-Raft race
-Bridge Building
-Workshop Tours
:?

It all sounds great fun, and from the few comments above I can see it is well liked. :D

Make sure you call all the lads "Fellah" when you get there ;)

HAHA!

I've been told by my best mate, who is in the engineers, never to call anyone "fellah", so I'll take his advice.

As of today I'm also attending this visit. Heard from the Westbury rumour mill that its meant to be a cracking visit. Seems a fair few of the stalwarts of these forums will be there; should just drop the pretenses and turn it into an ARRSE reunion!

See you all in a few weeks.

Hey Shifty, I have heard the same thing from a friend of mine who attended it last year. I received the joining instructions yesterday and have to say it looks a very packed, yet enjoyable few days.

It is with immense pride that I report that the ARRSE contingent (possibly with the exception of dodgy_dodge who remained unidentified) at the RE Visit excelled and were a tribute to these hallowed forums - smashing the closing raft race, leaving all other literally trailing in our wake.

Competitiveness aside, it's a great visit that can be highly recommended.

Seconded.

Also be prepared to get wetter than an otters pocket.

Chaps,

Apologies, arrse didn't really come up in my convos with anyone should have kept my eye out for you.

Guessing you were in the winning group then, I was group leader of the team that came second, bloody 6 barrels....WRONG option. Still live an learn and we slightly less wet than you lot.

Was a cracking few days....now just have to see what the feed back says.

p.s any POs going in future, look out for RAF officers, a couple of the boys got their pants pulled down (only in the drinking sense!)
