Rotherham child abuse scandal: 1,400 kids exploited

From those links, @ExREME..TECH: "Loopholes let drivers ply their trade in one area despite being licensed by a council elsewhere, often with poorer safety standards". The system is a bloody disgrace; the DoT and local authorities seem to have been letting people down for too long. About time that national standards for minicab licensing - in all councils - were introduced and rigorously enforced, irrespective of who these firms and drivers are. They talk about punishing criminals; there are dodgy feckers in our idle dopey PC councils.

Even better: urgent oversight of all agencies and law enforcement; it's time they fined the lot of them and punished individuals. The news is full of it and it goes on in far too many towns: criminal pests and pervs have been driving around picking up kids while the authorities did nothing.

The Times also mentions compulsory CCTV in every cab, requirements for drivers to speak and write in English, and on-the-spot fines for those flouting regulations. Considering how many vulnerable people use Taxis and they (and parents, carers and guardians) have to trust firms and drivers, when you look at what's happened it seems bloody stupid and reckless that councils, national standards and law enforcement have been so slack and useless.

Were there not demonstrations in Rotherham against fitting CCTV?

Can't give a Funny, Like or even Informative but if there was an Apt - that image deserves one.

Bolton you say?

Check out @GMPBoltonCentre’s Tweet:
Okay, so what happened to respect - that's respect, not Respect.

This makes a mockery of policing. It reduces an institution which should be held in regard to an object of ridicule. Well done to all concerned with coming up with this; you just helped to make those actually doing the policing's job just that bit harder. You knobs.

This is the result of politicising policing. It changed when it became a Police service and not a Police force.

Failures Disasters and gross negligence in Social Services and the forces featuring prominently in all this, before we even start on Birmingham and London, were to me politically motivated. The mindset in these offices is common at both ends of the country so what is the common strand/glue/mentality in all of these regions, that drives all of these clowns 'in charge' and made them so bloody useless when it came to the numerous models of CSE, gangs, drug lines, cultures and criminal activities.

I read a few years back that the true reason for these systemic failures was financial; the government and local authorities refuse(d) to protect all of these kids "in care" with financial investment.

We know how shoite the Care sector is, but if the root cause besides paedo retards and drugs was money; investment in protecting kids and vulnerable adults instead of financing stupid bollix like the fat stupid idiot in post #3,648: then it would make it all easier to understand - though never easier to stomach.

better things to do than catching Paedostanis..........
Fixed that for you. Why don't Plod just wear those mini plastic Police helmets you can buy from any seafront tat shop? It's got to be a money-saver. I reckon a few dozen of these Pride Bobbies posted at the next United v City/Liverpool/Chelsea/West Ham game will quell any ideas of aggro from the hooligans. Or get them patrolling the inner city gang areas.

Tbf, I reckon those suits could protect the wearer from some pretty sharp shots. Not sure about hurty comments though.

As usual the authorities are missing the point , punishments dont fit the crime so theres very little deterrent , like Septic crims a short spell in the slammer does not worry them too much, immigrant crims know they can usually run back home if the proverbial really hits the fan.
Immigrant criminals should be deported and their country of origin paid to imprison them , families of the immigrant perpetrator should also be deported , assets sold to compensate victims.
Convicted "British " perpetrators should have all assets sold to pay for jail time costs and victim support , and an attachment to earnings added on release.

Tighter laws on legitimate people just cause inconvenience and expense.
