Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

  1. Apologies if this is not the right place to post this:

My father, Ron Freeman passed away on Monday 27th July at home in Cyprus at the age of 80. He was a National Serviceman, joining the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry in 1947, commissioned, and serving in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, and Somalia. He was a very keen Rugby player, and I beleive he played at Regimental level. He left the Army in 1950, joined the Honourable Artilery Company, and served there until the mid to late 50's.
He was immensely proud of his Army service, made many friends, and regarded it as one of the defining periods of his life.
I don't know if anyone here knew him, but I thought I'd post this just in case.
    David Freeman

    Sorry for your loss.

I'll have a beer for your old man at Armoury House tonight.
  3. Ravers,
    Thanks for your kind thoughts.
I can say definitively that it's what he would have wanted.
