Rock Apes walting.

While arrse was down I was surfing over on Rearparty and came across this. What is it about the 'regiment' that makes them think they're SAS or something? The RAF Regiment, legends in their own minds.

Here we go again....Is there something on there that shouldn't be?
I do believe 2 sqn are in an airborne role so whats the problem?

Perhaps the gentleman in question is hinting that the pebble monkeys are walting by pretending to be in HM Armed Forces rather than the civies in uniform that the rest of their RAF bretheren are that we all know and love...

Well, it is the NAAFI after all...

Its just the 'speshull' bit that makes them think they're all SAS troopers. If you can't see it in the boards presentation then you must be one of them.

Did you know that they have to do selection twice before the RAF even look at them

And real paras never mention the fact theat that they do they  .

True, but it's a quiet afternoon and it's sooo easy to get a bite from them - it's not like they have, IIRC, CVR(T) and walt it up as Cav any longer...

I can't see a problem either. Apart from the pilots they are the only combat orientated part of the RAF. The rest are support trades, a bit like my own (ex) unit.

Ok... Since it's the NAAFI and I haven't had a giggle in a while I'll bite... :p

I'd suggest that a unit of only 100 men whose primary wartime task is to be parachuted behind enemy lines to take and hold an enemy airfield, (which, by it's nature is a fcuking large piece of real estate to take and hold), until relieved is probably rightly deemed "speshul"... 'Cos you're going to need to be a little nutty... 8)

What wings do you have an issue with. The winged wheel has been the insignia of II Sqn from way back when it was No. 2 Armoured Car Company many years before the raising of the SAS. The parachute wings themselves are the same as the Army wings except they are on a Blue background so they fit with the No. 1 uniform. Nothing "walty" about it.

Let the games begin... Bet you kids can't take this one to, what, 80 pages like the last one... :p

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Have you heard yourself. Cheered me up no end.

BTW when was the last time 100 men, whose primary wartime task is to parachute behind enemy lines and take and hold an airfield, did it?

Thats a fcuking corker right there, I haven't laughed that hard since, well I can't remember when. :D
