RMPTC Chichester Closing

#1
I've just heard today that the RMP School is closing within 2 years and moving to some navy location in Portsmouth. It's a shame really, even though I am no longer serving I'll have good memories of Chi and the local chicks.

Oh God, I bet they combine with the Reggy School on Whale Island; what a snake pit that will be....

This has been a hot topic for a number of years now and all the RMP are fighting hard to keep our spiritual home in Chi. Rumours of moving to HMS Nelson or RAF Holton were on the cards as well, now that RMPTS is part of the tri-service Defence College for Police and Personnel Administration (or something like that).
I doubt they will leave in a couple of years time (more like 5-10), but I could imagine that the MOD has its eyes on the prime real estate RMPTS has and, knowing the house prices in W Sussex, they stand to make a fortune.
Bloody shame if it goes, especially after the high profile the RMP has had since TELIC. :(

Whatever is driving the move from Chichester, it has nothing to do with house prices. All former military garrison sites are classified as 'light industrial' sites, which forces the MoD to sell at a significant loss, as they discovered to huge embarrassment in Catterick.

Many of the buildings within RMPTS are listed, including the old guard room and the wall that surround the camp. I can see it turning into the Roussillon Housing estate, complete with secure perimeter walls, gate and playing field for all the local chavs to come and ride their motorbikes over

How do you relate standards with location? The TC survived moving from Mychett to Woking and Woking to Chichester so what matters where it is. Mind you, if the Andrew took over the training ..................

Well it will be tri service training, so if we are all gonna be at the standards of the RAF Police we'll all be great gate guards

I worked for the guy who went on to be PM (RAF). He said they would have no trouble replacing the uniformed Provost with Snowdrops but they knew that their SI blokes could never displace the SIB. I doubt if that situation has changed.

Main Contender is HMS DRYAD which at the moment is standing unused. RAF Halton was considered but there was insufficent room, I believe it was the same for Chichester.

Oh and just for your info, The recent 'Guarding' review in the RAF has seen the RAF Police lose all low level security commitments ie Gate Guard, this has now been handed over to MGS/MPGS.

I take it non of you clever lot were on Op TELIC? 5 RMP - 60 RMP & 93 RAF. OC 5 RMP made such a hash of things, his replacement, and very nice bloke, threw a dickie fit when he saw how things were being run.

Lets hope the RAF can steal some uniform & discipline standards from the AGC, and maybe you lot will take a chill pill and stop being so blinkered and not be the most hated group in the armed forces.

I was on Telic 1 and to be honest TPW have alot to learn before they are remotely capable of doing expeditionary operations on there own.

That is not a dig at the RAF Police, you have spent 50 odd years as a static police force not used to moving with a formation, and it shows when your boys and girls live in the field and rough it like the army always has. In another 50 years you may get the hang of it.

The less said about the CO 5 RMP on Telic 1 the better, we all think he is a knob as well. Is 93 the amount of under 16 stone non downgraded blokes you could drag away from confiscating copies of Loaded and army issue batteries from people getting on flights?

'I was on Telic 1 and to be honest TPW have alot to learn before they are remotely capable of doing expeditionary operations on there own'

And just how do you back that up? From where I was, you had no kit, so you borrowed from us, your lads had to split up on convoy escorts due to the amount of coaches being lost, you couldn't even change certain data channels on time, ever heard of Zulu, apparently the rest of the armed forces works on it, all bar the RMP on TELIC.

'Is 93 the amount of under 16 stone non downgraded blokes you could drag away from confiscating copies of Loaded and army issue batteries from people getting on flights?'

Granted we have our fair share of wasters, just like you lot, but you need to look inside your own 4 walls for being petty before pointing fingers!

You wouldn't be Welsh with a wife in the mob would you? Just curious as to whom I'm dueling with.

Girls please! cool your jets!

Chi is moving to HMS Driad and the first course there will start in Apr 06 FACT.

Standards we will all work together to achieve the same standards however, if the truth is required then the RMP will take the lead as the RAF and Navy do not have the vast experience that the Redcaps have (FACT). They (RMP) base their performance on knowledge and experience and not just knowledge, one is no good without the other!

Bottom line, RMPTS is moving so stop Fcuking moaning about who is the greatest, if in doubt look at the motos: Exemplo Ducemus (By example we lead!) For the fickos that means the RMP RULE!

Ciao!

No I am not Welsh with a wife in the mob, but he is a mate of mine.

I was in 1 RMP and luckly enough we didn't have any RAF with us. We were told that 5 RMP stayed in Kuwait for so long because the RAF component did not want to cross the border

One of your guys, a great lad too, worked in the JFLOGC Ops room with OC 5 RMP. Unfortunately we had the worlds wettest, weakest limp wristed Sqn Ldr in there as 2i/c. We had daily updates on what was happeneing straight from the horses mouth (he was accommodated with us) We swapped many a story on how certain elements of both our trades were 'a waste of space'. With him, your RSI, some of the CP lads and many of the GPD folk, we got on great. No hassle, no bitching & no us & them. I personally had a good ride with the RMP.

TPW were never going to cross the border, Col Tosspot didn't want integration so offered us the BCP's, which our Cambridge wizz kid turned down. So while you lot had TV progs made about you, we just settled down to boring ATSy & MSR patrols.

I hope the move to HMS Dryad comes sooner rather than later...... The RMP may bring some discipline into the RAF, f*ck knows we need it. And hopefully your seniors might learn that man management isn't just a civvy term. Not sure what the reggies will bring, hopefully some loose woman but that's for another thread!

Hit the nail on the head Capt_S

RAFP just don't come up to standard, even the special "Tactical Provost Wing" worked with them in Kosovo and they were poo, only one of them who had worked with SI had a scooby what was going on, the rest ran away saying stuff about guarding planes??
