Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

  1. Hello everyone can somebody help me? I'm in the process of applying for the role of Logistics specialist (supply) and I was just wondering what regiments are available to me and where each one is based, tried searching for this information on the net but it just keeps given me pages with basically crap on with no help to me at all. Thanks in advance to anyone that answers this for me
  2. As a general rule you should expect to be assigned to a Log Spport Regiment (1 or 2 in Germany, or 3, 4 or 12 in Abbingdon, Commando Log (Chivenor) or 13 (in Colchester), or perhaps 6 Regt (germany) or 9 Regt (Chippenham).
Generally speaking you may expect to go to a regiment which is approximately 9 months away from deploying to Helmand as that Regt will be recieiving a manning uplift

Supply Regts are 6 Regt RLC in Gutersloh, Germany and 9 Regt RLC in Hullavington. The Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR)may change that but that is currently an unknown. It is also highly likely that the RLC will reorganise some its Regiments regardless of the SDSR in order to ensure they are logistically balanced and able to perform the myriad of logistic functions required when deployed (supply, storage and transport, fuel operations, heavy lift etc) rather than the current status whereby some Regiments are too specialized. This means, as a Log Spec (Supply) you could end up in any just about any RLC Regiment in the future.

Also, the RLC has Log Spec (Supply) in jobs all over the Army in just about every, if not all Regiments.

See these links: Royal Logistic Corps - British Army Website

Logistic Specialist (Supply) - British Army Website

You can expect to move every 2-4 years and work in a variety of Regiments, RLC and non-RLC.

    Good luck.
  4. Thanks for the reply guys
  5. It's nice to know where they are Danny but you will be sent were they need manpower so don't expect to get what you want.
I joined the Army to get away from home, asked for Germany and ended up in Catterick for my first 2 years!
  7. Info on the RLC regiments and what they're up to can be found in the Sustainer here: Sustainer Autumn10.pdf
  8. yes i realise this thanks, am not to fussed where I am based to be honest, just eager to get in more than anything
  9. Hmmm somehow I dont see this logistically balanced idea working, every LSR will be begging manpower of other regiments just as they have always done.
