Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  2. All-round Good Egg.

    RIP, Sir.
  3. Rest in peace
  4. Went to a talk in Deepcut a couple of years ago. Witty and very knowledgeable. A fantastic speaker and I'm sure he will be greatly missed.
  5. Blokes a legend, I have the privilege to own 5 or 6 signed books of his.
  6. Just got this in a bulletin from RHQ:

An open Memorial Service will be held at 1430hrs on 8 June 2011 at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Chapel. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Richard’s life.
  7. He did a talk at Southampton University when I was there. Top guy, informative and approachable.

  8. Just in from RHQ:

Or alternatively - say bollox and let the Chapel Square be filled from wall-to-wall with respectful farewell-sayers? There won't be many other officers of his generation - ARAB or STAB - to get that kind of a send off)

  9. Agreed. There must be 1000s who would like an opportunity to show their respects and celebrate his life. If you are in contact with RHQ PWRR can you raise the question?
  10. I'm afraid i'm not - nor am I free to attend the ceremony.

Message reached me through my (RRF) Regimental HQ, not PWRR.
