Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just a quick one. Posted more out of curiosity than any other reason.

Why is the Rhodesia medal so low order of wear and not alongside any other campaign gongs?
  2. Because it's classed as an independence medal.

  4. That will explain that.
One of the old boys on the shift had that, GSM, the South Atlantic, QGJM and LSGC army and the police one too, when he left in 2003 I had always meant to ask why it came last but never got round to it. Then I saw a pic of CGS in soldier mag last night reprompting this!
  5. It's not an independence medal, it's a 'service' medal - hence why it's lobbed in next to the RUC gong. It's odd though, as it compares with the UN stuff - which sits in the warry stuff.
