Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Can any RHF boys answer a question for me?

I was at our TAC the other night and the RHF Regimental Association were meeting and some were wearing Tartan Trews in McKensie (Seaforth) Tartan. This really confused me as that was our old tartan 2 amalgamations ago (Highlanders). So why were the RHF boys wearing it?
Didn't want to appear a real numpty so didn't ask at the time......

  2. From 1881 2 HLI Mackenzie tartan for their trews; in 1947 the HLI adopted mackenzie tartan for their kilts and in 1959 on the formation of the RHF the regiment wore Mackenzie tartan for trews and Erskine tartan for pipers' kilts.
  3. Thanks for filling a very obvious gap in my knowledge, and of a MacKensie in the Coy....
