Quite a few new books about the Normandy campaign have issued in 2014, the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings. This one is a bit different. Most of the books that I have read focus on the conduct of the various battles, describing the factors that influenced their outcome and debating about the relative merits of the armies and their commanders.
