That picture has just taken me back to my school day and riveting a T square in metal work nearly 50 years ago. Never used one since but knew exactly what it is, no idea of what it is called though.

Fascinating thread. If it hasn't already been thought of, there is a potential marketing opportunity for the removed planking. Cut up into small sections and sold as Battle of Jutland mementos, it could generate funds for the project. Worth talking to the Historic Dockyard PR people?
