Representative Recruiting urged for officers by MP report

#41
So, from the people that matter (i.e. those who are serving) it would appear that no-one gives a fig where an Officer has come from, but rather, how good they are at the job?

And obviously the same applies in reverse, the Officer does not care where the soldiers come from, as long as they can do the job?

Chatted to some Fire Brigade types a while back who are coming under the same sort of pressure: The Government wants them to recruit from minority "communities", but almost nobody from said "communities" wants to be come a fireman.

1. Once MPs are truly representative of the communities they claim to serve, then I will welcome similar moves to make State bodies such as the Army, "more representative". Where are all the women in the House, the Lords, the Government and the Cabinet?

2. Improve pay and conditions in the Armed Forces and then you will have the so-called minorities fighting to get in, IMHO!
