In response to a question by Madeline Moon, a Minister has stated that a range of options are now being considered to either upgrade or potentially replace the RAF's fleet of Sentry AEW1s.
Aside from a major upgrade to the existing aircraft, the media will probably seize on the following principle options for new aircraft:
Boeing E-7 Wedgetail which is already in service with the RAAF, Turkey and South Korea as well as being on order for Qatar.
Saab Global Eye, which has just made it's maiden flight and is on order for the UAE.
Gulfstream ELTA G550AEW which is already in service with Israel, Singapore and Italy.
Or possibly an Airbus A330 based option.
Of course, there's the minor issue of finding the money first!
Regards,
MM
