Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I currently work at the British embassy in Tashkent. And i have got the HMA to agree to hold a rembrance day service within the grounds of his residence. He has also agreed that a plaque should be erected as a focal piont of the service.

Does any body have any suggestings for the wording of the plaque. This event will cover all the commonweatlth countries in Uzbekistan.

I am sorry there will be no prize for the best answer. If this post has been placed in the wrong section please feel free to move.

    Regards

    CHENMP.

  2. Chen, howabout the old traditional texts,
"When you go home tell them of us and say
For their tomorrow we gave our today". Or the one that ends
    "...We will remember them"
There are a couple of really good emotive examples, Google may help

  3. There are common variations in the wording of what has become known as the Kohima Epitaph, but the words on the Kohima 2 Div Memorial are:

"When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today"
