Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Reference: 2007DIN01-014

In layman terms any Regular Soldier/Officer who leaves the Army can join the TA (once they've got over the culture shock of Civ Div). They can enjoy a maximum of 3 years non mobilisation if they wish, a reduced annual training requirement. An indivudual can basically do as much as they want or just the bare minimum and still enjoy a part time army life without being sent to any theatre of ops, considering most of troops have probably already done their fare share of tours.
  2. Thanks for that. I left the Regs in March and went stright in to the TA but I am not enjoying it at the moment and was thinking of leaving but under that rule I mite hang around for a while an see how I feel in a few months time. (good idea for once !)
