Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. A mate of mine has told me that somebody who is currently in training at ITC has told him that recruits to any of the Guards regiments get issued their regimental berets straight away rather than having to wait till week 5 .. can anyone else verify this ?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. yes yes yes

  3. no no no or maybe?

  4. Yes, but you have to kill your own bear in week 7 with your bayonet before you are allowed to knit your Busby

  5. Due to budget cuts they are downgrading to Polar Bears.

  6. or perhaps a koala bear. Though they are vicious little sods and would probably see him off.........

  7. what does it matter????

  8. Guards do get theirs at start but have to earn the blue red blue flash for behind the cap star, get that after adjedence drill inspection at end of week 5.

  9. Cheers fella .

  10. Adjutants.....

  11. Nope, further cuts mean it's now just a Teddy Bear.

  12. And for officers a Rupert Bear?

Koala aren't bears. They're marsupials, closely related to the wombat.

    Cue crap joke:

    Civi version:

    Q. What do you do with a wombat? A. Play "wom"

    Army version

    Q. What do you do with a wombat? A. Blow up tanks.

Thanks for that, I'm here all week.....

  14. Precisely.

    Pedant mode on...
    Adjutant's.... pedant mode off.

Wouldn't some sort of cap be more appropriate? Such as this one offered for sale on fleaBay.

    I too had a friend...
