The heart of the site is the forum area, including:
Is there an upper age limit for joining the TA? What are the minimum joining standards?
Generally the upper age limit is 32, unless you have specialist skills or previous military service.
When you say minimum joining standards, what exactly are you referring to? Fitness? Education?
You can find more in on http://www.ta.mod.uk
Thanks for the response. I feel that, at 54, I might be a tad old. I would probably join a specialist unit having 21 years service, 13 of which was as an Army pilot. I am reasonably fit.
They hold a mirror against your face. If the mirror mists up, you've met the minimum standards.
They don't even do that anymore......
Due to the latest cutbacks, the TA can no longer afford a mirror.
We have a chap whos over 50, he is fit enough. Infact he's fitter than half the 20 somethings
And it's not me
if you have a pulse you are on your way to Iraq
try 666 FLIGHT AAC(V) @ RAF SHAWBURY SHROPS currently Gazzelles
At 38, having been out for a few years I was offered a chance to rejoin without doing sny basic, quick trade refresher and up two ranks on the position I was when I left.
Are the TA desperate? Too right.
The only condition was that I had to clear a 6 month gap in my diary and buy some Ray Bans.
so you think you will be going somewhere sandy ?
