Recruiting veterans into the Prison Service

Might be of use or interest that the Prison Service now have a recruitment team dedicated to recruiting veterans. Have a search for “Advance into Justice”.

Apparently they don't want you unless you can post the link.

The spam filter prevented me from posting the link big shooter. People are also more than capable of using a search engine. Thanks all the same.

You're more then welcome. Feel free to come back in 15 minutes and give me another dumb.
Next time you are out shopping, see if you can find yourself a sense of humour.

Indeed, such incompetence & sensitivity from @Swano rather make me think I would rather not work within 70 miles of them.
They might get a sense of proportion while they're out as well.

Had a look at some job adverts; ridiculous pay ! I thought the 'after 30% added' was the 'before 30% antisocial hours'. And that 's without getting spat at and stabbed.

Not sure why you are tagging me?

I seen an advert (a poster) for this in camp and decided to share it as it may be useful for some. It really is that simple

The pay is horrendous for what we do. Family life is pretty much non-existent. It is the least disciplined service I have ever seen, full of uni students having a 'gap year'. Assaults happen almost daily, you get no transferrable skills to take with you in life. I am currently looking for other work and keep hitting dead ends. SMT always want whats best for 'the men' (Prisoners) with no regard to staff safety. Trust me, avoid.
I dare say Border Force are looking for security cleared bods with 'defence & restraint' capability.
Whether it's out of the frying pan into the fire is another matter. Probably less faeces-flinging.

Oddly enough, I am currently waiting to hear back on my Border Force application - Although their recruitment process is questionable so i'm not holding my breath. I'd rather hate my job sat checking passports and searching luggage than doing what I do now, so it really couldn't be any worse. You can't kill what's already dead.
Watch you don't get dicked for 'Dover Escort Duty' unloading the rhibs!

I left the Prison Service (medical retirement) in 1997. It was a decent enough job back then, but all the cuts and changes have made it a very different prospect now.

I actually reapplied after working in private security for more years than I thought was good for me, but the chats with serving officers at the interview and assessment stages made me refuse the offer of a post when it finally came through.

I also did the training and a short period in a Secure Training Centre (u18s) run by a private US firm. I lasted less than a two weeks in post before having a complete sense of humour failure at the 'softly softly - won't somebody think of the children!' regime.

I tried for plod and HMPS over 20 years ago. I don't know what they were looking for, but it wasn't a fit, youngish, single, literate, hetro white bloke. I've since discovered it was the best thing that never happened to me.
