I've just received my date for Glencourse, 18th November. I was told by my csm that I will go for one day there but it won't involve the fitness tests, they will be done at a later date in Liverpool (I live in Manchester)
is your question about why you need to travel for your final assessment or covid lockdown related? Because if it is due to travel, its most likely because Glencourse has bigger facilities for medical etc whereas Liverpool might just be able to accommodate the physical side of things. Ask your CSM if you need.

Ah gotcha now. Yeah due to new restrictions they are moving assessments back to 1day I believe and depending on where you are it might be different. Like most things your CSM will know more.

Hello I'm new on here was just wondering if anyone can give me any insight to this if possible. I have started my army application to join the royal engineers, I have had my triage phone call today and am to have my army brief tomorrow. In my portal it says in my army brief to detail any upcoming holidays in the next 3 months. Hear is my problem I have a holiday booked for the 6th of June 2021 and come home on the 17th of June. Now before anyone say (why the **** would you book a holiday then look to join the army) i know the process can take a long time, up to 9 months or more even depending on back logs etc... Thats not the point the point is if I had to I would have to cancel the holiday but I won't if I dont have to as its my first and last family holiday with my wife and 2 kids one 4 and the other 3. I know I still got to get through my army brief, send my medical off to the doctors which can take a while ive seen of posts here some lads were waiting 2 months for there medical to come back because they were dragging there heels.

Beside that I know I got to book a eye test etc... and depending on when there is a date for assesment to if I pass to when the next intake would be for phase 1 what are the chances of this taking me in to next year. Any ideas ladies and gents.

Also before anyone asks I don't want answers saying well you shouldn't off booked a holiday etc.. I just want a decent straight forward answers as I. Aware that I might have to cancel the holiday

Why is it the first and last family holiday? Do you not think it will go well or something?

At the rate of things this year, there is a high chance you'll be starting next year but you do realise you can postpone your start until a date you can commit to so if its after your holiday then so be it.

Ohh no when I meant last holiday I ment it will be our first but last holiday abroad as doing phase 1 2 3 etc
If I were you I wouldn't bother until you know your start dates. Maybe book something last minute. Id wait until you've passed your medical whether that be the over the phone medical or once they've got your RGMD. That might make the decision for you.

Depends on how long your doctors surgery takes, I gave a box of chocolates (£2 small box, celebrations I think) to the receptionist and 1 for the Doctor to grease the wheels. However it got lost and I had to get it resent. Both times it takes a while for the Doctors to fill it in and send, then once it arrives at the med part it takes a week or two at least. If you dropped your RGMD in now at the Doctors you may be lucky and have it all dealt with and a selection date given before Christmas for sometime in mid-January.

The timeline is something as follows:

November - Telephone interview
December - Do all the RGMD stuff.
February - Selection
April/May - All going well and depending on trade and grade at selection you could be going for Phase 1 in April/May.

I went on selection with a load of lads going regulars and most infantry, after the interview we waited in the auditorium part at Lichfield and the earliest date someone got was 6 weeks, think he was going for the Rifles. The majority were around the 2-3 month mark from selection to starting phase 1.

how did it take you to get that date ?
So I apllied late Sept and was originally on the 10th of November for the AC, however due to covid they are only taking 6 people per day to lichfield because of social distancing according to my AFCO and I'm now on this date. I feel it will only drag out if you have something on your medical records, im lucky and I think my records are completly clear. Hope this helps!

This is a pretty accurate expectation. I applied in June, got to skip the triage call as I already had it (was originally applying for Reserves)

Medical info was sent back start of July, got a decision that I could proceed exactly 2 weeks after they received it (was originally deferred due to Kneecap dislocation)

Went to Selection mid September

Applying for a job with specialist assessment - was originally booked for Mid November with a start date of Feb, has now been postponed to January with a Feb start date thanks to lockdown. Obvs this is longer as I have to do a specialist selection too, but the time periods aren't far off elsewhere :)
