Recommended Software?

#1
I am currently building a new home desktop computer which will run on Windows 7.

Interested to hear of any software which anyone feels is essential, apart from the usual anti virus and Office package.

The machine will be used for a whole array of tasks from word/excel type work, to gaming, to utility tasks such as data recovery etc.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

While I'm here, anything more of use on a laptop as well?

Thanks in advance.

GIMP - free photo editing software. (Slightly complicated to learn but quite capable).

Fast Stone Image Viewer - for viewing and cataloguing photos

Blender - if you like making 3D objects/animations

PeaZip - for zipping and unzipping files

I downloaded VLC media player, worked very well, but there were a couple of games apps bundled in..... should have deleted both, but only deleted one.

I'm pretty sure it contained this piece of shit.... Remove Oyodomo.com pop-up ads (Removal Guide)

It couldn't get past Adblocker, but every time I clicked to a new page, a large window popped up to boast about it.

Had to upload Malwarebytes to get rid of this and some other filth.
