Reckonable Service

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I am trying to find a definition of "reckonable service" for officers.

I have just retired on the basis that I am eligible for a resettlement grant having served 9.5 years inc RMAS which I attended aged 25, as per the pensions calculator concluded.

JPAC now thinks I am not, as they don't include RMAS. Where do I stand?
  2. I suggest you check out the Army Pension Warrant 2010 (google). In particular A10, A11 & G3 which in my opinion allow one to aggregate RMAS sevice post 21 with commissioned service. I cannot find specific reference to this relating to terminal grant although it specified this in the easier to read 1977 warrant which the 2010 warrant is not meant degrade...
  3. I have recently asked the same question, but for a different reason. As I now understand it, the answer relates to which pension scheme you belong to. If you are/were on AFPS 75, then your Reckonable Service clocks from either the date of your commission or your 21st birthday, whichever was later. If you are/were on AFPS 05, then your Reckonable Service is coincident with your first day of paid service, regardless of age. Hope that helps. Ned.
