Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

Don't blame me, blame my 30+ nephew who is a wizard on IT and therefore runs my setup for me. However ...

I had a problem with an application refusing to run ... it happened to be Sims2. On each occasion, the solution was not to "re-boot", or even to "shut down" ... but to shut down AND pull the power cord.

"Joe 90" tells me that there is sufficient residual current to keep "glitches" in being ... killing the power lead completely clears bits of cache that would otherwise remain extant.

BTW ... system is Alienware ALX [full-spec] running from a brand new UPS. This system is not a "dog", which is why I "employ" an expert.

Hope this may be helpful to someone ...
